While most people think of the Dobermann as a "guard dog" we can tell you that they are the most wonderful family pet, this highly intelligent, loving animal learns quickly while becoming “your family’s best friend” and also your "protector".
There really is NO dog like the Dobermann, they get under your skin and !!!WARNING!!! they are highly addictive !
This page has been designed to make people aware of the heath issues which can affect the Dobermann but it does NOT necessarily mean they will develop them. We as breeders can only do our best with the tests we have available today and act
upon the results responsibly. Most reputable breeders make the best breeding decisions they can, based upon Health testing results, Temperament, Conformation, Breed type, Pedigree, etc.
A good breeder should health test their dogs prior to using them in their breeding programme and should be open and honest about the health status of ALL their dogs. Unfortunatley some breeders still continue to breed blind, using dogs in their breeding progamme without having had one single health test. It is strongly recommended that you seek out such breeders, chances are they are not breeding for the right reasons!
Jojavik are one of the UK kennels who do fully health test and we openly publish all our dogs health results.
We test our Dobermanns for vWD (Blood), PHPV (Eyes), DCM (Heart) Thyroid and Hip Score.
When purchasing a Jojavik puppy you will be given copies of the relevant health certificates of the puppies Sire/Dam. Health results of the parents will also be published on the puppies registration document.
Our dogs health results are published on here on each dogs individual page or altenatively CLICK HERE to see all.
IF YOU WISH TO LOOK OUR DOGS HEALTH RESULTS UP ON THE KENNEL CLUB.
Type in the name of the dog you wish to search (eg. Jojavik Dancefloor Diva) the dog's results for VWD, HIP DYSPLASIA & PHPV will be listed (IF THEY HAVE BEEN TESTED FOR THESE IN THE UK)
PLEASE NOTE: Heart and Thyroid results are not avaialble on the KC, this is not an ask of the KC, we choose to have our dogs tested to ensure, we are doing everything possible for the health of that dog at that present time, and we use our results to make decisions now and in the future on our breeding programme.
